Ukraine defeated host Korea 8-2 for the second win at the tournament and a fourth-place finish for the promoted team.

Slovenia will join Austria to the 2015 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship thanks to a 3-1 win against their neighbours after Japan missed to beat Hungary.

Hungary concludes this year's Division I with a 5-4 shootout win against Japan. The result brings Austria back to the top division while Japan can only hope for a Slovenian loss after missing the opportunity on earning promotion on its own.

For the first time since coming down to Division I in 2005 Japan will play for promotion. Korea will be relegated to Division I Group B after the 4-2 loss.

Austria remains undefeated after beating Hungary 5-4 in overtime. The Magyars meanwhile are out of the promotion race since they needed a regulation-time win.

Slovenia kept it hopes for promotion alive and defeated Ukraine 5-3 before its final game against undefeated Austria on Saturday at the 2014 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship Division I Group A. Slovenia dominated the beginning but Ukraine came back with three power-play goals.

It was a shocker of a score when Korea led 3-0 against odds-on favourite Austria after nine minutes but the "eagles" turned the score to 5-4 before the first intermission and won 7-4 to top the tournament standings.

Japan and Ukraine have surprised in this tournament but only one team could win on Wednesday and it was Japan thanks to Takuro Yamashita's late 3-2 game-winner.

Slovenia had a slow start into the tournament against Japan but earned the second win in a row, 2-0 against Hungary, at the 2014 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship Division I Group A. 20-year-old goalkeeper Luka Gracnar, who was in the net against Korea and today against Hungary, already earned his second shutout in his second game.

Slovenia bounced back from an opening day loss and earned its first tournament victory by blanking 2014 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship Division I Group A host Korea, 4-0.

After bad luck in an overtime loss against Austria, the Ukrainian national team blanked Hungary 3-0 to get its first win at the 2014 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship Division I Group A.

Austria had to come from behind again against Japan like the day before against Ukraine but it got the win it wanted, this time after 60 minutes, 4-1.

One year ago Korea celebrated its first win over Hungary on the opponent's ice. Now the Hungarians took revenge with a 7-4 victory in Goyang.

Japan defeated Slovenia 2-1 to earn its first victory ever against this opponent. Slovenia had previously held a 5W-1T record against the Asians. The game-winning goal was scored Denis Akimoto.

Austria started into the 2014 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship Division I Group A in Goyang with a 3-2 overtime win against Ukraine.
